Amica has been recognized with an Exemplary Worksite Health Award from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce for effective programs encouraging employee health and well-being in a meaningful way.

“Employers are dealing with the ever-changing landscape of the workplace, with remote work adding a layer of complexity,” said Jean Tapley, senior benefits and wellness supervisor in Amica’s Human Resources department. “Amica works hard to create a culture where mental health is just as important as physical health. We offer a variety of resources, trainings and educational opportunities to reduce the stigma around mental health. Our programs meet employees where they are; not only their physical location, but where they are regarding their health.”

The 29th Annual Worksite Health Awards celebrate companies that prioritize employee wellness. Amica was one of 43 Rhode Island-based businesses honored by BCBSRI and the Chamber in recognition of their continued efforts to advance employee wellness and build a healthier Rhode Island.

The Worksite Health Awards honor Rhode Island-based employers that demonstrate sincere commitment to maintaining a healthy workplace through policy, culture and educational opportunities. With some companies having locations outside the state, the awards help showcase both in Rhode Island and beyond best practices for improving the health and well-being of employees. As many people continue to work remotely following the pandemic, it’s essential for businesses to evolve in how they meet the emotional and physical needs of employees.

Amica was honored to also receive the Create and Innovate Award this year, recognizing its efforts to build engagement with employees, especially those feeling isolated while navigating the hybrid workplace. Part of that effort was utilizing Amica’s internal podcasts, Studio A, to share stories of employees’ challenges and successes. Some of the topics covered included adoption, autism, gender equity and the immigrant experience.

Since 1995, the awards have recognized businesses of all sizes headquartered in Rhode Island that demonstrate exceptional health and wellness programs and health-oriented workplace policies. For more information about the Worksite Health Awards, please visit bcbsri.com/worksitehealth.
