01/02/2026 LINCOLN, R.I.

Three Massachusetts sisters, who all receive monthly blood transfusions at Boston Children’s Hospital to treat the same rare blood disorder, and their parents, celebrated the holiday season early with a meet and greet with Jayson Tatum and a VIP experience at TD Garden courtesy of Amica Insurance, the Boston Celtics and Boston Children’s Hospital.

The Mooty sisters – Emmie, 16, Rosie, 15, and Frannie, 12 – were all born with beta thalassemia major, a condition that causes irregular red blood cells and severe anemia. Tracy Antonelli, who lives with the same rare condition, and her husband Patrick Mooty, adopted all three girls – Emmie in 2012, Rosie in 2013, and Frannie in 2014. The family visits Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center every 21 days, where Tracy and her three daughters receive lifesaving transfusions of red blood cells.

Jayson Tatum has been a longtime supporter of Boston Children's Hospital (BCH), recently receiving their Champions Award for his commitment and support of patients and their families. Said, Michael Bornhorst, Vice President, Corporate Development, Leadership Giving & Special Events, “Ever since he was a rookie, Jayson's never missed a hospital visit. Whether visiting with the Celtics or on his own, Jayson has made personal connections with our patients and been a wonderful role model.”

Ted Shallcross, president and CEO of Amica said “We’re honored to be a part of bringing joy into the lives of children like the Mooty sisters through our partnerships with Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics and Boston Children’s Hospital. Like the extraordinary medical team at BCH, we’re committed to the compassionate care of those we serve.”

Amica is proud to continue its “Beyond the Patch” initiative with the Boston Celtics, which aims to create unforgettable experiences for New England children and their families. Emmie, Rosie and Frannie, alongside their parents, were at the Celtics’ home game on Monday, Dec. 22. In addition to the meet and greet with Tatum, the family enjoyed courtside seats for Monday night's game, along with behind-the-scenes access to pregame warmups and a photo shoot at center court with the Celtics team photographer.
