How to Bundle Insurance: A Guide

Bundling your insurance products with one company can make your life easier. In addition to potentially saving you money, the ability to go to one place to pay insurance bills, manage your coverages and file a claim will save you time and effort.

What is bundling?

Bundling is when you purchase more than one insurance policy from the same insurance carrier, creating a “bundle” of policies. Often, there are discounts associated with having multiple policies with one carrier. Beyond discounts, there are several benefits to bundling your insurance.

Why should you bundle?

Ease of account management

Whether you need to pay a bill, make a policy change or get a question answered, you’ll only need to contact one insurance company to do so. When you create an account on Amica.com, you can see most of your insurance information, including billing information, ID cards, coverages, deductibles, documents, claims and more. When you bundle with Amica, you’ll spend less time handling your insurance needs.

Thorough needs-based coverage

Different people have different insurance needs. When you talk to a representative at Amica, they’ll help evaluate your situation from all angles to make sure you have the policies and coverages you need. Our representatives are always happy to walk through your situation with you and answer any questions you may have about policy types and coverages.

Ease of claim handling

It’s not unusual to need to file more than one claim against multiple policies at the same time. For example, imagine a storm has caused damage to both your vehicle and your home. If your policies are bundled with one carrier, you can work with just one company to resolve your claims.

What products can I bundle?

Amica offers several policy types, and you can bundle almost any policies Amica offers. When you think of bundling insurance policies, you may think of your auto and home policies, but there are many combinations of policies you can bundle. Auto, home and umbrella policies have a specific bundling discount associated with them.

And that’s just to name a few. If you’re interested in bundling multiple policies but aren’t sure where to start, an Amica representative is happy to guide you through it.

Is insurance cheaper if you bundle?

Yes, it can be! You can save up to 30% when you bundle auto, home, umbrella and life policies with Amica. The exact amount you’ll save depends on which policies you’re bundling and what state your policies are in. You may also hear the terms “multiline” or “multi-policy” discount. These are just other ways to describe the discount you receive when bundling multiple insurance policies.

How do I get a quote for bundling?

To get started, you can get a quote online or give us a call at 800-242-6422.

When you get a quote online, you’ll be asked if you’d like to get a quote for bundled policies. You can select which bundle you’d like and proceed with the quotes. If you don’t see the bundle you’re looking for, you can quote policies individually, then speak to an Amica representative who can ensure you’re getting all possible discounts for the bundle you’re going with.

Bundling FAQs

If I buy one policy with Amica today, can I add another policy later?

Yes! You can bundle insurance policies at any time. Whenever you’re ready, you can purchase an additional policy from Amica. We’ll make sure any applicable bundling discounts are added and updated on all policies.

What happens if I cancel one of my policies?

If you cancel one of your policies, you’ll lose the bundling discount associated with having that policy. An Amica representative can always see if there are other options to help you save on your insurance premium.

When does it make sense to bundle my policies?

If you have more than one insurance policy, it may offer you convenience and savings to bundle them by going with the same insurance company for both policies. You can benefit from bundling whether you have two policies or five!

How are bundling discounts applied?

Let’s say you have home and auto insurance with Amica. On your home policy, you’ll get an auto “bundling” or “multiline” discount. Same for your auto policy, you’ll get a home “bundling” or “multiline” discount.

Are there times I shouldn’t bundle my insurance?

Most people can benefit from bundling their insurance policies. However, if you have unique insurance needs that one company won’t insure, you might not be able to find all of the protection you need with the same carrier. In this case, getting the right coverage is more important than the potential ease or savings you’d get with bundling.
