Limits: First qualified claim forgiven
Availability, limits and deductibles may vary by state and policy.
How does this coverage help?
One accident can sometimes lead to higher premiums even when it’s an isolated event. Accident forgiveness features help protect the value of your claim free history by preventing an eligible loss from impacting your policy’s surcharge history.
This coverage:
- Helps prevent a qualifying loss from impacting your policy’s surcharge history.
- Applies separately to home and auto, based on each policy’s eligibility terms.
- May waive one eligible chargeable accident, subject to policy conditions.
Auto Accident Forgiveness
Auto Accident Forgiveness may help waive the first eligible, chargeable at fault accident when:
- A covered vehicle was involved in an accident and operated by an eligible driver.
- The eligible driver had a clean driving record for three years prior to the date of loss.
- There have been no at-fault and surchargeable auto claims during the eligibility period.
- No other claims have been waived during the three years preceding the date of the loss.
Real-life scenario
First at-fault accident after years of safe driving
An eligible driver has a clean driving record and no accidents for over four years but gets into an at-fault accident resulting in claims payments totaling $35,000. All other conditions have been met, so this claim is waived and does not result in a surcharge against their policy.
Is this coverage right for you?
Auto Accident Forgiveness features can be a good fit if:
- You prefer more predictable pricing and want protection against a surcharge after a first eligible accident.
- You’ve maintained steady coverage and have had a clean claims or driving history over time.
- You want Signature-level coverage that includes added benefits and features.
Auto Accident Forgiveness coverage is included with Signature auto policies.
