Home Insurance Coverages

Customize your home insurance policy to fit your budget and lifestyle1

With home insurance, one size does not fit all.

There’s a lot to think about beyond coverage for fire and theft. But when something unexpected happens, understanding your home insurance coverage can help bring you peace of mind. While policies vary depending on your needs and budget, we’re here to help you get the coverage that’s right for you.

Where do I start?

Here are some questions to ask when considering home insurance:

  • Have you thought about all of the items in your home, large and small?
  • How much would it cost to replace every one of the items you own?
  • Do you live in an area prone to earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes or floods?
  • What would happen if you lost your house and had to live somewhere else for a while?
  • Do you travel and worry about the belongings you bring with you?
  • Are you currently protected against identity fraud?
  • Are you worried about someone injuring themselves on your property?

Standard Home Insurance Coverage

This is a blanket term for all the individual coverages of a homeowners insurance policy, listed below.

Dwelling Coverage

This coverage provides protection if your home is damaged by a covered loss such as fire, lightning, wind or hail. Structures that are attached to homes, such as garages, are included in the coverage.

Other Structures Coverage

Just like your home, detached structures on your property, like sheds, garages and fences, are protected in the event of a covered loss.

Personal Property Coverage

This is coverage for property that is not permanently affixed to your home or structure, such as furniture, clothing, electronics and other items.

Loss of Use Coverage

When your home is damaged by a covered loss and it’s unfit to live in, your living expenses may suddenly and temporarily increase. Temporary housing (such as hotel rooms), storage rental, even higher than normal food bills all fall under this coverage.

Personal Liability Coverage

If someone is injured or has a personal item damaged on your property you could be liable for medical payments and other costs. This part of your policy provides coverage for claims of property damage and bodily injury.

Extended Home Insurance Coverage

Our home insurance policies are as individual as you are. If you need more coverage, these are the options available to you. We’ll help determine the best fit for you.

Dwelling Replacement Coverage

When the cost to rebuild or repair your home exceeds the coverage limit on your policy, this coverage provides an additional 30% above your limit.2

Personal Property Replacement Coverage

With this worldwide coverage, you’ll get full repair or replacement of your personal property up to the limit of coverage you’ve selected.2

Valuable Items Coverage

If you own higher-value items like jewelry, fine art or furs, this coverage may offer broader protection for damage beyond fire and theft. It’s also known as scheduled personal property coverage.

Catastrophic Coverages

This is protection (minus a deductible) in the event of property damage or loss due to earthquakes or flood.

Identity Fraud Expense Coverage

You'll get personal help restoring your identity and be reimbursed for unauthorized use of your credit cards up to the policy limit.

Protect your identity

Home Business Coverage

Whether you're running a business from home or just completing an assignment for your employer there, be sure to properly insure yourself against the unexpected.
