12-Month Auto Rate Lock

The 12-Month Auto Rate Lock is available when you bundle auto insurance with a home, condo or renters policy. While auto policies typically renew every six months, eligible bundled customers can lock in their auto rate for their entire first year – providing added price stability and peace of mind.

Availability, limits and deductibles may vary by state and policy.

Who is eligible?

This feature may be added when:

  • You are a new customer to Amica.
  • You bind both an Amica auto policy with an eligible homeowners, condo or renters policy.
  • You have not had an active Amica policy (auto, homeowners, renters, condo, marine or umbrella) within the past 12 months (life insurance doesn’t affect eligibility).

Who is not eligible?

This feature is not available for:

  • Existing Amica customers for any line of business (aside from life insurance)
  • Accounts with any active personal policy in the past 12 months
  • Split or spinoff accounts
  • When the home, condo or renters policy was declined

How does the rate lock work?

  • The auto rate is locked for 12 months when both the auto and the eligible home, condo or renters policies are bound.
  • The feature is not automatic and must be added before binding the auto policy.
  • If the home policy is bound first, the auto policy must be bound within 30 days of the home policy effective date.
  • If the auto policy is bound first, the home policy must still be eligible and intended for binding.

Payment plan option

If available in your state, you may also have the option to choose a semiannual payment plan for a 12-month policy term.

  • A semiannual payment plan may be available with the 12 Month Auto Rate Lock.
  • Includes a 10% discount when the semiannual discount is selected.
  • Requires a 50% down payment, with the remaining balance billed at six months.

Is this coverage right for me?

12 Month Auto Rate Lock can be a good fit if you want added price stability when you bundle your auto insurance with a home, condo or renters policy.

It may be right for you if:

  • You’re a new Amica customer bundling an auto policy with an eligible home, condo or renters policy
  • You want the reassurance of locking in your auto rate for a full year, rather than a potential increase at the six-month renewal
  • You prefer more predictable pricing during your first year with Amica

If you have a loss during the 12-month rate lock period, the rate lock remains in effect for that year. Any chargeable loss impacts would typically be reflected at renewal, not during the policy period.
