Everyday necessities in your home rely on mechanical and electrical systems working properly. Home Equipment Breakdown coverage helps pay for repairs, replacement and certain related costs when covered home equipment breaks down unexpectedly.
Included with:
- Advantage and Signature condo policies
- Can be added to any homeowners policy
Limits:
- Advantage condo: includes up to a $50,000 limit
- Signature condo: includes up to a $100,000 limit
- Essential, Advantage or Signature homeowners policies – can add this coverage with up to a $100,000 limit
Deductible: This endorsement carries a built-in $1,000 deductible. If the Coverage A (Dwelling) limit is above $4 million, the deductible increases to $5,000.

In addition to repairs or replacement, Home Equipment Breakdown coverage includes helpful coverage extensions that may apply after a covered breakdown.
- Expedited costs you may incur to help prevent further damage, such as reasonable additional expenses for temporary repairs, or extra costs to speed up permanent repairs or replacement of the damaged property
- Pollutant cleanup costs when contamination results from a covered equipment breakdown (up to $10,000)
- Sump overflow damage caused by a breakdown of a sump pump or related equipment (up to $2,500)

- Loss caused by common policy perils such as fire, windstorm, hail, flooding or freezing (typically addressed under the homeowners, condo or flood policy)
- Electronic vandalism or malicious digital acts
- Certain equipment types and losses excluded under the endorsement definitions and exclusions
