Your participation in Amica Mutual Insurance Company’s (and our subsidiaries and affiliates, including Amica Property & Casualty Insurance Company, collectively, “Amica” or “us” or “our”) StreetSmart by Amica (“StreetSmart”) is subject to your acceptance of the following Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms and Conditions, you should not participate in the StreetSmart.

Amica reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without advance notice. Modifications to these Terms and Conditions can be viewed by visiting the StreetSmart page on Amica.com. Continued participation in StreetSmart by you will constitute your acceptance of any revisions to these Terms and Conditions. Please check our site regularly.

Overview

StreetSmart is a mobile-only usage based insurance product offered by Amica that is focused on driver behavior. StreetSmart features a mobile application (the “App”) that participants must download on their compatible personal smartphone or other mobile device (the “Registered Device”) that evaluates driving behavior for a minimum of 91 days. Once the App is downloaded, the App will begin collecting behavioral telematics driving data from the phone sensors, which will be used to score participants’ driving. The variables used to determine a driving score that may have bearing on a premium discount include: (1) excessive speeding; (2) harsh braking; (3) phone motion; (4) phone screen tapping; and (5) road segment type. The App may also collect data pertaining to acceleration, swerving, cornering, distance and speed driven, location, and other similar driving related data.

The data collected through the App is transmitted to us through our telematics service provider, Cambridge Mobile Telematics (“CMT”), and may be used to (i) underwrite and rate our insurance offerings; (ii) develop, maintain, model, analyze and enhance our products and services; and (iii) other lawful purposes fully set forth in the StreetSmart by Amica Privacy Notice.

Terms

You understand and agree:

  • To download the App and its updates, as such updates are developed from time to time, on the Registered Device. This may require your assistance to download periodic updates to the App. If you do not download or update the App you may be removed from StreetSmart. Please note that by downloading, installing or using the App you consent to be bound by the StreetSmart by Amica End User License Agreement.
  • Participating drivers must complete the registration / enrollment process within the App and must drive a sufficient number of days and miles to generate a score and remain eligible for a participation or premium discount.
  • New participants to StreetSmart are eligible for a participation discount contingent upon completion of the registration / enrollment process and compliance with these Terms and Conditions. Upon renewal of the policy, participants may be eligible for a premium discount based on their driving score calculated during the previous policy period.
  • Enrolled drivers will carry their Registered Device with the App with them and keep them powered on with geolocation permissions enabled and phone sensors functioning for all trips when they are driving. Enrolled drivers must also transmit data pertaining to their driving trips in a timely manner to allow for a score to be generated and to allow StreetSmart to function as designed.
  • The App is intended to be used solely by drivers of legal age, holding a valid state driver’s license, and specifically listed as a driver on an active Amica auto policy.
  • By providing your mobile number and/or mobile numbers for other drivers on the policy, you acknowledge that you have full authority to provide us with those numbers, to enroll each driver in StreetSmart, and to provide your consent of these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all enrolled drivers on your policy.
  • The mobile numbers you provided to Amica are the actual primary and unique numbers of the enrolled drivers.
  • By sharing your mobile numbers with us, you provide express consent for each mobile number to receive text messages, push notifications, and other communications from or on behalf of Amica.
  • The App collects information related to driving behavior including: (1) excessive speeding; (2) harsh braking; (3) phone motion; (4) phone screen tapping; and (5) road segment type. The App will also collect the following participant information: (1) location; (2) speed, (3) heading; (4) accelerometer data; (5) gyroscope data; (6) barometer data, (7) time; (8) general information about the use of the App; and (9) and other similar driving related data.
  • The data collected from the App could result in the policy premium being discounted (or loss of a discount) depending on your driving behaviors.
  • The App makes predictions about whether you are a driver, passenger, or engaging in an alternative form of transportation. You have the opportunity to correct trips within 30‎ days using the App.
  • Amica retains the right to remove any participant from StreetSmart for failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions, including any patterns of disabling or deleting the App, excessive re-categorization of trips, failure to keep geolocation services enabled, failure to keep the Registered Device powered on with sensors functioning, failure to transmit data from the App on a regular basis, or any other reasonable basis relative to the intended design and function of StreetSmart. If your participation in StreetSmart should terminate for whatever reason, upon termination of your participation, any accrued StreetSmart benefits or applied discounts will be forfeited and/or removed.

Additional Terms

  • Privacy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and understand you may have questions about the data received and collected in the App. Please visit our StreetSmart by Amica Privacy Notice, where we explain the types of data we receive and how we use and share such data. We do not sell your data to third parties.
  • Revisions; Amendments. We reserve the right to revise the StreetSmart by Amica Terms and Conditions and inform you of the revisions by updating them on our website. Your continued participation in StreetSmart confirms your agreement to the revisions.
  • Termination. We may terminate, change, suspend or discontinue any aspect of StreetSmart at any time.
  • Policy Considerations. These Terms and Conditions do not amend, or otherwise affect the provisions or coverage of your Amica automobile policy.
