Home insurance FAQs
Your homeowners insurance doesn’t cover flooding or earthquakes. However, through Amica, you can purchase a flood insurance policy through the federally backed National Flood Insurance Program. Similarly, damage caused by earthquakes isn’t covered under your home insurance policy, but you can opt to add a policy endorsement to cover repairs.
Amica provides multiple ways to report a claim 24/7. Use our mobile app or online portal to report and track your claim, or call us at 800-242-6422 to file your home insurance claim. Amica policyholders have access to the Home Repair Assistance Program offered by Contractor Connection.4 Through this program you’ll have access to pre-qualified contractors to make repairs, which are backed by a limited workmanship guarantee.4
Your home is unique, and your coverage and rates will reflect that. Typically, the location, condition, age and cost to rebuild your home have the most significant impact on home insurance rates.
Home insurance is not mandatory in most states. However, it’s highly recommended for homeowners to have insurance, regardless of state requirements. A home insurance policy can help protect you from the financial burden of covered events and risks.
Homeowners insurance may help cover your home, certain detached structures, personal belongings, additional living expenses and liability after a covered loss. Coverage details vary by policy, so it’s important to review your own documents for exact limits and exclusions.
Consider updating your home insurance coverage if you’ve made any changes to your home or property, such as a remodel, installing a pool, or building a detached garage or shed.
