Home Loss Checklist

In the event of a home loss, use this guide to help you navigate the next steps.

1. Contact emergency personnel (if necessary)

If anyone is injured or there is an emergency, immediately call 911 for the police, fire department or medical assistance. If you are the victim of a theft, contact the police and file a report.

2. Prevent further damage to your property

If your home is damaged, please safely proceed with necessary emergency repairs and save all receipts. Your policy provides coverage for the reasonable cost incurred to protect your property from additional covered damage. Examples may include removal of a fallen tree from a structure and tarping the roof to prevent further water damage.

3. Report your claim

4. Document the damages

If it is safe to do so, take photos of the damages before conducting any repairs. This will assist in expediting payment for covered damages.
