HR Officer Ryan Caldarone Named Providence Business News 40 Under Forty Honoree

Amica Insurance is proud to announce that Ryan Caldarone, Human Resources Officer and Director of Talent Development, has been named a 2026 Providence Business News 40 Under Forty honoree. The annual award recognizes emerging leaders for their professional achievements and meaningful contributions to their communities.

A lifelong Rhode Island resident, Caldarone has dedicated his 17-year career at Amica to helping employees grow, lead and succeed. He began his Amica career in claims, where he developed a strong foundation in customer service and decision-making. He currently leads enterprise-wide initiatives focused on leadership development, workforce capability strategy, succession planning, mentoring programs and change management for major business initiatives.

“Ryan’s future-focused leadership, strategic vision and people-centered approach have made a lasting impact across our organization,” said Ted Shallcross, Chairman, President and CEO of Amica Mutual Insurance Company. “His commitment to developing others, building strong teams and fostering a culture of continuous learning exemplifies the values we strive to uphold at Amica. We are thrilled to see him recognized with this well-deserved honor.”

Among his many accomplishments, Caldarone designed and launched Amica’s enterprise leadership development pathways. He serves as co-chair of Amica’s Leadership Development Committee, which provides governance and oversight of enterprise learning initiatives and played a key role in developing a skills-based approach to employee growth and development.

A strong advocate for mentorship, Caldarone currently mentors several Amica employees and will soon serve as a mentor in an external partnership with Rhode Island College. His professional credentials include SHRM Certified Professional and Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, along with multiple insurance industry designations. He is also pursuing his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Beyond his work at Amica, Caldarone is deeply involved in his community. He supports small local businesses, including his wife Crystal’s Rhode Island-based company, volunteers as a foster parent with Heart of Rhode Island Animal Rescue League and serves as a CrossFit coach, helping to mentor and encourage athletes.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had at Amica and the leaders and colleagues who have supported me along the way,” said Caldarone. “This recognition reflects the collective effort of the teams I’ve been fortunate to be a part of.”
