LINCOLN, R.I. - Amica Insurance has once again been honored with an Exemplary Worksite Health Award from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
Now in its 22nd year, the Worksite Health Awards recognize employers that go the extra mile to improve their employees’ health and well-being with innovative wellness programs and activities. Amica was one of 77 businesses honored during a ceremony on June 2 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick.
“Even though wellness has always been an important part of Amica’s culture, we’re constantly evolving to meet the needs of our employees,” said Jean Tapley, wellness program manager at Amica. “Simple additions to our campus – such as Spin classes, a longer, more challenging walking path and the availability of fruit-infused water – have made a big difference to our employees.”
Amica offers wooded walking/running trails, an onsite fitness center and subsidized healthy food choices. Other wellness initiatives include health coaching, massage therapy, Weight Watchers at work and sit/stand workstations.
“A healthier workforce leads to lower costs and higher productivity,” Melissa Cummings, senior vice president and chief customer officer of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, said in a statement. “Working closely with Rhode Island businesses, the Chamber and Blue Cross see the innovation, dedication and healthy outcomes our local businesses are achieving by focusing on wellness.”
“A company’s workforce is its most valuable resource,” Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement. “Inspiring and helping them to adopt a healthy lifestyle has a positive impact on morale, retention and your bottom line.”
