LINCOLN, R.I. - Amica Insurance and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (Blue Cross) are teaming up for Gobble Games 2015, a charitable giving initiative that will benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
Between Monday, Nov. 2, and Friday, Nov. 20, the two companies will square off in a friendly competition to see who can collect the most food items. Those items will then be donated to the Food Bank so that less fortunate Rhode Island families can have a warm meal this holiday season.
Blue Cross began the Gobble Games in 2013 as a way to engage and activate employees around the issue of hunger in Rhode Island. Since then, the program has collected more than 15,000 items, or roughly three tons of food donated, and it has become a signature component of Blue Cross’ annual support of the Food Bank.
“We’re proud to team up with another local business for the benefit of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank,” said Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica Insurance. “It will help double our efforts and make an even bigger difference in people’s lives this Thanksgiving.”
“This friendly competition is a fun and effective way to support the important work of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank,” said Peter Andruszkiewicz, president and CEO of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. “It takes a team to meet the needs in Rhode Island, and we’re thrilled Amica accepted our invitation to participate with us in Gobble Games 2015. We can do so much more together than we ever could alone in ensuring more food for families in need.”
