LINCOLN, R.I. - The Amica Companies Foundation, the charitable giving program at Amica Insurance, is extending its reach to markets in the Northwest and Southwest.
Throughout 2016, the Foundation is supporting community organizations in the Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, Seattle and Portland (Oregon) markets, in addition to its home state of Rhode Island. So far, nearly $250,000 has been distributed to these groups, which include educational centers, foundations and health clinics.
“The Foundation’s mission is to help people become economically independent and strong,” said Meredith Gregory, charitable giving coordinator at Amica. “That’s why we’re so proud to partner with amazing organizations to support the life-changing work they’re doing. Giving back is part of our culture at Amica – it’s who we are as a company, and it’s what we do in our communities.”
In the Denver market, for example, Amica supports the Young Americans Center for Financial Education, which offers youth programs on banking and personal finance, free enterprise, entrepreneurship and global economics. The Young Americans’ YouthBiz program helps at-risk youth harness their passions, skills and dreams through entrepreneurial thinking and action.
At a recent YouthBiz competition, students from four Denver Public Schools worked in teams to come up with original products. The teams then presented their ideas to a panel of judges, including Matt Ward, assistant sales and client services supervisor in Amica’s Denver Regional Office.
“The YouthBiz program truly embodies Young Americans’ commitment to advance the social and economic prosperity of Denver’s future community and business leaders,” Ward said. “The presentations were delivered with professionalism and creativity. The Amica Companies Foundation was proud to support this wonderful competition, and we look forward to each participant’s future success.”
