California Earthquake Coverage

Important change to Amica’s earthquake insurance coverage.

Along with many other insurers, Amica is partnering with the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) to provide important earthquake coverage for California policyholders. The CEA provides the majority of all earthquake coverage throughout California, and the organization offers home, condo, dwelling, and renters policies.

Important to note

In order to maintain or obtain earthquake insurance, it’s important for you to take action. If you currently have a home, condo, dwelling, or renters insurance policy with Amica, here are a few things to note:

  • Amica policies that renew after Nov. 1, 2018, will not include coverage for earthquake.
  • New earthquake insurance policies will be written by the CEA.
  • All bill payment and policy information for new earthquake policies will be sent to you from the Amica CEA Service Center.
  • You’ll be contacted by the Amica CEA Service Center after you receive your Amica home, condo, dwelling, or renters insurance policy renewal notification.
  • We’re still here for you. You can contact us directly for earthquake damage claims.

Next steps

If you currently have earthquake coverage with Amica:

  1.  As your Amica home, condo, dwelling, or renters insurance policy renewal date approaches, you will receive an offer for earthquake coverage from the Amica CEA Service Center via U.S. postal mail. At that time, you’ll be provided with instructions for obtaining new earthquake coverage.
  2.  If you have any questions you may call the Amica CEA Service Center. Please note the Amica CEA Service Center will not be able to provide assistance until you receive your Amica home, condo, dwelling, or renters insurance policy renewal notification.
  3.  Once you have your new Amica CEA Service Center earthquake policy, you will receive two separate bills when payments are due: One from the Amica CEA Service Center for your new earthquake policy One from Amica for your home, condo, dwelling, or renters insurance policy

Rest assured – Amica is still here for you should you need to file a claim.

If you DO NOT currently have earthquake coverage with Amica:

The Amica CEA Service Center will still contact you via U.S. postal mail to provide you with the opportunity to purchase earthquake coverage.
