Providence Business News names Amica’s Ted Shallcross to ‘40 Under Forty’
LINCOLN, RI – Edmund “Ted” Shallcross III, vice president at Amica Life Insurance Company, was recently named one of the Providence Business News’ “40 Under Forty” – a list of 40 young professionals in Rhode Island who have been successful in their careers and are active in their communities.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected as one of this year’s 40 Under Forty,” said Shallcross. “Amica has great resources for professional development and a talent pool of accomplished young people who are rising leaders. This is something that we as a company can be proud of!”
A resident of East Greenwich, RI, Shallcross serves on the executive leadership council for the American Heart Association’s 2013 AHA Heart Ball and is a member of Bravo, the Rhode Island Philharmonic’s group of corporate and community leaders who support the arts throughout the Ocean State. He also is a graduate of the 2011 Leadership Rhode Island program, a leadership development organization creating and supporting a legacy of leaders throughout the state.
James McDermott Jr., senior vice president and general manager with Amica Life Insurance Company, nominated Shallcross for the designation. He was among more than 100 people nominated for the list this year. “We’re proud of Ted’s accomplishments here at Amica, and we’re thrilled that he’s been selected for the prestigious 40 Under Forty list,” said McDermott.
Shallcross, a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, started at Amica in 2007 as a senior assistant vice president in the accounting department. As a vice president in Amica Life, he is responsible for financial management and operations.
“Amica is such a great company with such great people,” said Shallcross. “I really couldn’t see myself anywhere else. In 10 years, I hope to see the company continue to grow and flourish while doing my part to help make that happen.”
Shallcross and the other winners were honored at a dinner on July 26 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport. The 40 Under Forty program is sponsored by Bank Newport, the University of Rhode Island, Cox Business and Bryant University.
