CPCU offers scholarships up to $4,000 for qualified candidates
LINCOLN, RI –The Rhode Island Chapter of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) is again seeking candidates for its annual scholarship awards of up to $4,000 for qualified applicants who demonstrate academic excellence.
These scholarships of $2,500 to $4,000 are available to individuals who work in the insurance industry in Rhode Island, are residents of Rhode Island who work elsewhere in the insurance industry, or are active members of the Rhode Island Chapter of the CPCU Society, as well as members of their immediate families – including spouses, children, stepchildren, dependents, brothers or sisters.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college university in full time associate’s or bachelor’s degree program. They cannot have been previously awarded this scholarship, though prior unsuccessful candidates can re-apply for this year’s scholarship.
The scholarships will be awarded to applicants “exhibiting the highest level of academic excellence,” as shown through the applicant’s school transcripts, GPA, SAT scores, letters of recommendation and other information provided on the application, including extracurricular activities.

The winners will be recognized at the Rhode Island Chapter of CPCU’s awards banquet in June.
The Rhode Island Chapter of CPCU has awarded more than $170,000 in scholarships since the Scholarship Fund was created in 1986, including $16,000 awarded last year.
