After the storm, make sure everyone is safe.

Don't venture outside until you're sure the storm has passed. If you've evacuated, don't return home until authorities have declared that your neighborhood is safe. Beware of downed power lines, flooded roads, debris on the road and possible structural or electrical, gas or other utility hazards. Contact Amica for help in filing a claim and arranging repairs.

  • Make sure everyone is safe. Administer first aid or call for
    help, if necessary.
  • Contact family and friends. Make sure everyone is accounted for. Register on the Red Cross Safe and Well Web Site to let people know you're okay.
  • Do not drive through flooded roads.
  • Don't leave children unattended in flooded areas.
  • Be careful returning to a storm-damaged house. Make sure it's structurally safe before entering.
  • Remove standing water if possible.
  • Dry and disinfect all materials in the house to prevent the growth of mold and mildew.
  • Wear sturdy shoes and protective clothing during cleanup.
  • Take reasonable steps to secure your home.
