LINCOLN, RI – Firetrucks, puzzles and dolls were among hundreds of toys Amica Insurance employees recently collected for the Marines’ Toys for Tots program.
Huge cardboard boxes were overflowing with toys when Marine Cpl. Andrea Ryder and Sgt. Robert Lewis came to collect the donations. They said it was one of the largest single collections of toys they had received from companies in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
"The Toys for Tots drive is a great opportunity for Amica employees to help families in the community,” said Craig Phelps, senior assistant vice president in charge of corporate communications at Amica. “Our main goal is to brighten up the holiday season for children in these tough economic times.”
Ryder and Lewis said the Toys for Tots program collected more donations this year than last, but the need for toys has also increased.
They thanked Amica employees for their generosity and noted that the toys will all make their way into the homes of many happy children.
