Amica Insurance recognized with Campaign Leadership Award

LINCOLN, RI – Amica Mutual Insurance Co. has been given the Campaign Leadership Award for Rhode Island by the Community Health Charities of New England for the company’s participation in the 2009 employee giving campaign.

The Amica Insurance Employee Giving Campaign showed an 18 percent increase in dollars pledged and a 16 percent increase in the number of donors last year as compared with 2008, according to Steve Kirck, regional vice president of Community Health Charities of New England.

Community Health Charities collects employee donations during an annual charitable giving campaign on behalf of 27 health-related organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Juvenile Diabetes Association, Kirck explained. CHC also provides health-related information and services to Amica and other employers.

Community Health Charities works with companies in 40 states across the country to solicit employee contributions on behalf of various health-related organizations, Kirck said. Amica was selected as the recipient of the award in Rhode Island because of the increase in the number of employees participating and the amount of donations made last year, he said.

“In the face of a challenging economy, the employees at Amica Insurance demonstrated strong support for the member health charities of CHC,” said John Rostaino, a campaign manager with CHC. “Their leadership in charitable pledges by employees is commendable.”
