FITCHBURG, MA - Amica Mutual Insurance Company recently joined forces with the good people of Ashburnham, MA to build a new Habitat for Humanity home with the McSparren family. Amica cemented their partnership with a $40,000 donation toward the completion of the Habitat for Humanity house under construction on Sherbert Road in Ashburnham.
Amica's help goes well beyond funding. Their employees throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island will be involved with the building of the home - from erecting interior walls, to putting on the final coat of paint, and doing the finishing touches of landscaping.
"We are pleased to welcome Amica as a corporate partner," said Megan Foley, executive director of Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts (HFHNCM). "They are well-known for their commitment to the communities they serve, and for enriching the lives of their employees," Foley said. She added that Amica helped fund a Habitat for Humanity home in Fitchburg, completed in 2006. "It's no surprise to see them extend their mission now by joining us to build a home with a family in need in Ashburnham," she said.
"Amica Insurance is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to build a home with an exceptional family in Massachusetts," said Bob DiMuccio, president and CEO. "Amica supports Habitat's mission to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. As an insurance company, we remain dedicated to serving the people of Massachusetts with our products, competitive pricing and community involvement."
The McSparren's future home, located at 203 Sherbert Road, is swiftly taking shape. Volunteers have been busy framing the outside walls and the construction is anticipated to be complete by late fall. "We expect that the McSparren family will be home for the holidays," said Foley. She urged volunteers who want to help build the house to register and sign up online at www.ncmhabitat.org or by calling 978-348-2749.
