2010 Amica TexasMan Triathlon Results

PROVIDENCE, RI – Jason Watson was the top finisher at the Amica TexasMan Triathlon at Lake Ray Roberts in Denton, TX. The 30 year-old from Irving, TX, covered the 19.7 sprint distance in a winning time of 1:08:14.

“What a great race today,” Watson said. “I usually prefer to travel to my key races, but was excited to see the Amica TexasMan in my backyard. It was a goal of mine to win this race and travel to the Amica 19.7 Phoenix as a series winner. I cannot begin to say how thrilled I am with the support of this race and the outcome of the day.”

Ashley MacCurdy, 28, of Addison, TX (1:19:02) was the top female finisher.

More than 600 athletes participated in today’s events, which included the Amica TexasMan Triathlon 19.7, the Amica Olympic TexasMan and the Amica Long Course Texas Man.

Brett Poulsen and Ashley Johnson each took the title in the Amica Olympic TexasMan with times of 1:53:10 and 2:11:54, respectively. Ron Tribendis and Alexandra Paddon-Jones captured the Amica Long Course TexasMan with times of 4:37:20 and 5:12:37.

Athletes in all three races experienced a course that began with swim off a sandy beach, continued with a bike course through rolling hills and concluded with a run course shaded by trees.

The Amica TexasMan Triathlon kicked off the 2010 Amica 19.7 Triathlon Series, a sprint distance series of events held throughout the country. The Amica 19.7 TexasMan Triathlon was the first of 10 sprint distance events in the series. It featured an 800-yard open water swim, a 16.1 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.
