Amica named to Fortune 1000 list for 2010

LINCOLN, RI – Amica Mutual Insurance Co. has been named to the Fortune 1000 list of top American companies for 2010.

The ranking, which was released today on the magazine’s website, ranks Amica as the 955th largest company in the nation in terms of annual revenues.

“This ranking reflects the hard work and dedication of our more than 3,200 employees across the country,” said Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica Mutual Insurance Co. “Despite the turbulent economic times, we’ve been able to achieve significant growth across the board in auto, homeowners and personal liability insurance. This is a direct result of the extra effort each of our employees has made to make Amica one of the leading insurance companies in the nation.”

This is the first time Amica has made the Fortune 1000 since 2006, when it ranked 913. The magazine lists Amica’s net revenues for 2009 as $1,647.9 million, with profits of $130.6 million last year.

“We’re thrilled to be ranked among the top 1,000 companies in the nation,” DiMuccio said. “This is an honor that was earned through a combination of strategic planning, sound fiscal management and the outstanding customer service that sets Amica apart.”

Amica is one of only six Rhode Island companies to make the Fortune 1000 list. CVS Caremark and Textron made the Fortune 500, with rankings of 18 and 220, respectively. Hasbro Inc. came in at 511, while FM Global ranked 545 and United Natural Foods Inc. ranked 569.
