Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica Insurance, presented his company’s donation to hospital officials to mark the conclusion of this year’s incredibly popular Amica Game Ball program.

“It’s a great feeling to be able to help an institution like Children’s Hospital Boston, which provides outstanding medical care to so many children throughout the region and the nation,” DiMuccio said after the check presentation.

“It’s also fun to give so many of the children at the hospital official NBA basketballs autographed by Tommy Heinsohn, a true Boston Celtics legend,” DiMuccio said. “Hopefully, it made this Celtics season a little more special for each of them.”

Amica worked with Comcast SportsNet to sponsor the Amica Game Ball program to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston. For each of the 70 Boston Celtics games broadcast by Comcast SportsNet, Amica donated an official NBA basketball and gift bag to a hospital patient. The company also made a $500 donation in that patient’s name to the hospital for a total donation of $35,000 for the 2009-2010 basketball season.

Each ball was autographed by Heinsohn, a legendary player and coach for the Boston Celtics who is now the color commentator during Celtics games for Comcast SportsNet.
