New Amica Insurance Sales Center Celebrates Opening, Receives Award

HENDERSON, Nev. – Amica Mutual Insurance Co., one of the city's newest businesses, celebrated a grand opening and ribbon cutting Jan. 21. That same night, it took home an award at a ceremony sponsored by the city's economic development program.

The new office, known as Amica's National Sales Center - West, is located in the Green Valley Corporate Center. It employs 13, with expectations the number will increase to more than 70 employees by 2011. With offices around the country, the property-casualty insurance company is based in Lincoln, R.I.

"My staff and I look forward to getting involved with the community efforts and projects here in Henderson - and being a good corporate neighbor," said Katie Ware, the sales center manager, at the grand opening.

Amica chose to base its second national sales center in Henderson after a comprehensive site search in the western United States. Employees in the Henderson office will perform service and sales support for Amica customers across the country.

"We believe Henderson is the perfect location for our corporate expansion," said Ware, who recently moved to Henderson and has been with Amica Insurance since 2005. "Henderson is recognized for its high quality of life. It's a great place for employees to live and work."

In addition to the grand opening celebration, Amica was recognized for its new business initiative in the city at the 11th Annual Henderson Economic Development Awards Program held at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas.

The Grand Opening event was a day filled with celebration and excitement," Ware said. "It was the perfect way to honor the many individuals who have worked so diligently in making Amica's expansion to Henderson a reality, as well as recognizing our new NSC-West employees who have since made the NSC-West a continued success."

In addition, she said, "We're extremely grateful to the City of Henderson for this honor and appreciate the warm reception we've received in this tremendous business community."
