LINCOLN, RI – Amica Insurance will return as presenting sponsor for the second annual Southern New England Golf Expo presented by Amica on Feb. 13 and 14, an event described as "a celebration of golf" that also will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence.
More than 50 people turned out for a news conference on the Amica campus, where organizers discussed plans for the event, which they promise will be "bigger and better than last year." Jim Hagan, executive producer of the Golf Expo, said the two-day event is expected to draw more than 10,000 attendees and will feature more than 70 exhibits, interactive displays and golf-related attractions for all levels of golf enthusiasts, including:
The first 500 entrants each day also will receive free sleeves of Bridgestone golf balls and all attendees will receive a one-year subscription to either Golf Digest or Golf World. They also are eligible to win a vacation get-away at one of several golf resorts.
Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica, said the event isn't only great for golfers. It also raises money "for an absolutely wonderful organization" – the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence.
Last year, the Southern New England Golf Expo raised more than $30,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs, which helped fund after-school programs such as swim lessons, youth employment and Project Learn, the Clubs' tutoring and homework help program.
The Southern New England Golf Expo hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 14. General admission tickets are $9. Children under age 12 are free.
