Amica Insurance Employees Bring Cheer to the Rhode Island Family Shelter

Fundraiser brings in $2,780 for the shelter

LINCOLN, RHODE ISLAND – Amica Insurance is pleased to announce that its employees have donated $2,780 to the Rhode Island Family Shelter. The donation represents the proceeds from a recent sale of Amica promotional items.

Rhode Island Family Shelter Inc. is the only temporary emergency family shelter of its kind in Rhode Island's Kent County area. All families are welcome, and approximately 300 individuals per year receive shelter. More than one-half of all individuals sheltered are children. The Rhode Island Family Shelter was started 20 years ago in the basement of Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick to assist homeless men, women and children. Guests are provided with three meals a day, personal needs, support and guidance that enable them to establish a stable home environment. The shelter is located at 165 Beach Avenue, Warwick, RI 02889.

"The Rhode Island Family Shelter is thrilled to receive this donation from Amica Insurance," said Janis Fisher, executive director of the shelter. "The shelter will use this donation to provide shelter, meals, basic needs and supportive services to homeless families. It is the caring and generosity of others that allow us to continue with our mission. We are grateful to Amica Insurance for its support."
