Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Amica Mutual Insurance Company, was born in 1957 and raised in Providence, RI. He currently resides in Cumberland, RI, with his wife, Rena. The couple have two sons, Robert and Joseph.
DiMuccio graduated from Providence College in 1979 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He began his career with the accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick, where he worked for 12 years and earned the position of partner. He joined Amica in 1991 as a vice president in the accounting department.
DiMuccio was promoted to senior vice president in 1994, and he was given the additional title of treasurer in 1996. He was named chief financial officer in 2001. During these years, he remained a member of Amica’s accounting department. He was named executive vice president in 2003, and president and chief executive officer in 2005. In 2008 he was elected the company’s chairman.
DiMuccio, who has earned the insurance industry’s prestigious Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) educational designation, is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Property Casualty Insurers (PCI) Association of America. In 2009, as first vice chair of the PCA Board of Governors, DiMuccio offered testimony before Congress in support of the property casualty insurance industry.
DiMuccio is also president of the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Institute for Business and Home Safety, the Property Loss Research Bureau, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Trust Company.
