Amica Insurance announces 12 promotions

LINCOLN, RI - Amica Mutual Insurance Company and Amica Life Insurance Company are pleased to announce the following 12 promotions:

Peter Drogan, of Walpole, Mass., was promoted to vice president and chief actuary in the sales and client services department.

Drogan earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Providence College in 1988 and a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Brown University in 1989. Drogan started at Amica as an actuarial student in 1989. He attained fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society in 1999, and he now oversees all actuarial functions at Amica.

Sean Welch, of North Stonington, Conn., was promoted to vice president in the claims executive department.

Welch earned a bachelor’s degree in politics from Salve Regina University in 1988, and he attended the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Executive Education program in 2013. Welch started at Amica as a claims adjuster in 1985. He attained his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1994, and he now oversees claims branch operations at Amica.

Alicia Charles-St. Juste, of Woonsocket R.I., was promoted to vice president in the sales and client services department.

A graduate of Boston University, Charles-St. Juste earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations in 1997 and attained her master’s degree in administrative studies in 1998. Charles-St. Juste started at Amica as an associate underwriter in 1999, and her field experience includes work in Amica’s Orlando, Dallas and Northern New Jersey offices. Today, Charles-St. Juste oversees sales and client services branch operations for Amica and leads the policyholder retention initiative.

Lisa DeCubellis, of Providence, R.I., was promoted to vice president in the claims executive department.

DeCubellis earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University, and she started at Amica as a claims adjuster. She has previously worked in Amica’s Northern New Jersey, Baltimore, Cincinnati and Northern California offices. DeCubellis attained her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2007, and she now oversees technical claims operations at Amica.

Scott Boyd, of Johnston, R.I., was promoted to senior assistant vice president in the human resources department.

Boyd earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of South Florida in 1996, and he began working at Amica in 1997 as a claims adjuster. He was then promoted to the director of compensation and benefits in 2008 and was named an assistant vice president in 2011. In his new role, Boyd oversees compensation and benefits functions at Amica.

Thomas Goodale, of Cumberland, R.I., was promoted to assistant vice president in the sales and client services department.

Goodale earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Boston College in 1989, and he obtained a master’s degree in insurance management from Boston University in 2006. Goodale started at Amica as an account representative in 1989, and he was promoted to account manager in 1997. He was named a jurisdictional officer earlier this year. In his new role, Goodale is responsible for sales and service initiatives in his region.

Pauline Lamantia, of Smithfield R.I., was promoted to assistant vice president in the internal audit department.

Lamantia earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University in 1980, and she began her career at Amica as a senior information systems auditor in 1998. Lamantia, who is also a board member of the Rhode Island chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, was promoted to internal audit officer in 2012. In her new role, Lamantia oversees internal audit functions at Amica.

Jyotipriya Ajay, of Franklin, Mass., was promoted to sales and client services officer in the sales and client services department.

Ajay, originally from Mumbai, India, earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Mumbai University in 2001, and she began working at Amica as an associate account manager in 2006. She previously served as business process manager and senior business process manager. Ajay also received her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2010.

Adam Kostecki, of Walpole, Mass., was promoted to claims officer in the claims executive department.

Kostecki earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Stonehill College in 2001, and he started at Amica as a claims adjuster in the former Greater Boston office. He has held a number of different roles in the claims department, including claims supervisor in the Southern California office and large loss examiner at Amica’s corporate office in Lincoln, R.I. In his new role, Kostecki oversees the claims systems, claims accounting and claims innovation teams.

Ramona Nasir, of North Attleboro, Mass., was promoted to human resources officer in the human resources department.

Nasir is a graduate of Georgetown University, and she began working at Amica as a claims adjuster in 1998. She was promoted to manager of employment and employee integration in 2008. Nasir has also earned her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designations. In her new role, Nasir is responsible for Amica’s hiring, engagement and diversity initiatives.

Joyce LaBanca, of Johnston, R.I., was promoted to assistant vice president in the life department.

LaBanca earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Bryant University in 1986, and she started at Amica in the accounting department in 1975. LaBanca joined the life department in 1981, and she was then promoted to claims officer in 1994. LaBanca also received the Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation in 1984, the Associate, Life and Health Claims (ALHC) designation in 1987 and the Associate, Customer Service (ACS) designation in 1992. In her new role, LaBanca is responsible for managing the life customer service and claims departments.

Todd Oster, of North Scituate, R.I., was promoted to assistant vice president in the life department.

Oster earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Rhode Island in 1988, and he began his career at Amica in 1989. Oster spent eight years in the claims department at Amica Mutual before transferring to the structured settlements department at Amica Life in 1997. He was promoted to manager of that department in 2008, and he was named an officer of Amica Life in 2011.
