Amica recognized with Vision Award from the Rhode Island Blood Center
LINCOLN, RI – The Rhode Island Blood Center presented Amica Insurance with its Vision Award this week, which is given to companies “that display the passion to help and bring hope to others.”
“'Amica is one of the most dedicated sponsors we have,” said Scott Asadorian, vice president and chief operating officer for the Rhode Island Blood Center. “It’s critical that the business community in Rhode Island supports our cause. We are very grateful for Amica’s support.”
Amica has been hosting quarterly blood drives at its offices for more than 20 years, drawing an average of 90 employees each time, Asadorian said. Amica employees have donated 7,426 pints of blood, saving 22,278 lives. In addition, 71 employees have also registered with the National Marrow Donor Program and four of them have donated bone marrow.
“Amica is proud to support the Rhode Island Blood Center each year,” said Jill Andy, senior vice president of human resources with Amica. “Many Amica employees want to give back. This is a great way to support the Rhode Island Blood Center and the Rhode Island community.”
The Rhode Island Blood Center is thankful for each Amica employee who has donated blood over the past 20 years, Asadorian said. “Each time someone donates blood, up to three lives can be saved. Because of companies like Amica, we are able to save patients every day.”
