Join Amica Insurance and “step up” in the fight for air
LINCOLN, RI – Amica Insurance is again the premier sponsor for the “Fight for Air Climb – Peak the Plaza” on Feb. 25, during which participants will walk, run and race to the top of One Financial Plaza in downtown Providence to raise money to help fight lung disease.
It’s the third consecutive year that Amica has sponsored this event, which is a fundraiser for the American Lung Association.
"Amica Insurance is proud to sponsor the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb,” said Patti Genovese, sponsorship specialist at Amica Insurance. “We support the American Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. We know our support of this year’s event will help to accomplish this mission and positively affect all individuals touched by respiratory illnesses.”
Amica Insurance prides itself on an ongoing commitment to philanthropy. Because of that commitment, Amica supports a number of charity events and non-profit organizations. With more than 3,100 employees in 40 offices across the country, Amica not only sets a good example, but also encourages employees to adopt the same sense of giving back, even if it is simply a few hours of their time spent as a volunteer.
People of all athletic abilities are welcome to participate in the Fight for Air Climb. Climbers can walk, run or even race to the top of the building and compete for a trophy. Participants are invited to form teams, whether corporate or community or comprised of friends and family. Each participant is responsible for a $35 registration fee and a minimum of $100 in fundraising, which is due by event day. The American Lung Association reinvests 78 cents of every dollar raised to support its mission.
Fire departments from all over New England will take part in the firefighter competition, dressed in head-to-toe gear. For the last three years, the Fall River Fire Department of Massachusetts has walked away with the trophy. It is not too late to register a team of firefighters, however the registration fee is set to increase to $50 in the upcoming weeks.
Following Peak the Plaza, an after-party and awards ceremony will be held at McFadden’s Restaurant & Saloon, 52 Pine St., just a short walk from the building. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be given out for each gender and age group, as well as awards for top individual and team fundraisers. McFadden’s will offer dinner and drink specials to all in attendance.
Other sponsors for the event include: GTECH Corporation, Lefkowitz, Garfinkel, Champi & DeRienzo P.C. (LGC&D), Metlife, Northeast Recycle Group, McFadden's Restaurant & Saloon, One Financial Plaza, 95.5 WBRU, Electric Boat Corp. and BankRI.
